Alicia García holds a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy and another in Primary Education for Children with Special Needs. She received her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Alcalá (Spain) in 2013. She is an expert in Ancient Philosophy and Religions (especially Greek, Pre-Islamic and Indian). Her fields of specialization are comparative studies, philosophy for teaching-learning processes, inclusion, security, peace and violence prevention.
Alicia is a member of the Human Develpment and Capability Association (HDCA), the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB) and reviewer of the Bordon Pedagogical Journal (French Section). She was selected by the Ministry of Education in Spain for a three-year traineeship at the Spanish Eurydice Unit (EACEA-European Commission) located at the National Centre for Educational Innovation and Research (CNIIE) for the study of UE education systems. She was also a researcher in residence at the Centre d’Études Religieuses et de la Laicité (Université Libre de Bruxelles) and Lucio Anneo Seneca Classical Studies Centre for the Society, Law and Politics (University Carlos III of Madrid).
She leads an innovative project in Road Safety Education in collaboration within the Spanish General Directorate of Motor Vehicles in Spain (DGT) and the Chartered Institute of Administrative Consultants of Madrid (ICOGAM) and participates in a inter-university program about Legal Culture in collaboration with the University of Alcalá.
Currently, she works as a Philosophy of Education teacher at the Université Catholique de Paris (France) and is member of the Research Group on Civic Culture and Educational Politics (CCPE) at the University Complutense of Madrid (where she is developing a postdoctoral research). She is interested in educational policies, care theories and welfare studies.
